Eco-friendly cleaning products can be just as effective at cleaning as chemical ones, and they can often be cheaper to buy or even make, as well as being efficient and environmentally friendly! If you want to be more green in your home then why not use lemon juice? Lemon juice has natural antibacterial properties that are great for use in your home. Here are just a few fantastic ways in which you can clean your home using lemon juice! 1) Removing limescale.Limescale can be a problem in your home, and you might often find yourself buying expensive chemical products. You can use lemon juice to remove and tackle limescale by combining it with bicarbonate of soda. The two will create an antibacterial foam that can be wiped away after an hour or so, depending on the severity of the problem. For particularly stubborn limescale buff the mixture gently into the area with an old toothbrush before rinsing clean. 2) Deodorising your fridge.Fridges can often house unpleasant and unwanted smells, no matter how often you might clean it, but you can fix this problem in an environmentally-friendly manner! Simply slice a fresh lemon in half and place on a small dish. Leave it in your fridge until the lemon begins to go off and you’ll be greeted by a clean and fresh scent every time you open the door! 3) Cleaning your worktops. You can also use lemon juice to clean your kitchen surfaces and bathroom ones too! Mix together one part fresh lemon juice with three parts water and you’ll have a fantastically reliable, effective, affordable and eco-friendly antibacterial spray! Invest in a spray bottle so that you can always have a ready-made spray on hand to wipe down the surfaces in your home. 4) Refreshing your dishwasher.Run your dishwasher without anything in it but half of a lemon. The lemon water will refresh your dishwasher and help to combat bacteria. Make sure all traces of lemon have been removed before using your dishwasher again! 5) Brightening clothes.Do you have clothes with tough stains? Try gently buffing at the stains with a mixture of lemon juice and water to see the colour lift after a wash. You can also breathe life into your off-coloured whites by washing them with a dash of lemon juice. The lemon will work to brighten discoloured fabrics, leaving them looking as good as new! 6) Cleaning your bin.Lemon juice is a great item for when it comes to cleaning your bin! The natural antibacterial properties of the juice will combat bacteria and germs, whilst leaving behind a fresh and pleasant scent that will clean your bin looking and smelling fantastic.
